# NexPay Wallet — Hold a balance, split it into named wallets

> Hold a balance with NexPay and split it into as many wallets as you have reasons: a deposit for one student, this term's commissions, a refund reserve. Money comes in from any bank account, goes out to any bank account, and moves between wallets whenever you like.

**Multi-currency wallets. With the student's name on it.**

## Name it. Fund it. Move it.

Wallet is a balance you keep with NexPay, split any way you like. There's no application to open a new wallet and nobody to explain it to. Just a name.

- **Open a wallet for anything:** A student. A school. A branch. A month. A name and a button — no application, nobody to explain it to. Open as many as you have reasons.
- **Add money from any bank:** Top up from your business account by bank transfer, or let incoming payments and commissions land straight in the right wallet. No minimum, no lock-up period.
- **Move it whenever you like:** Between your own wallets, on to a school, back to a family, or out to any bank account you choose. Your money is never stuck with us.

## For people who hate spreadsheets. And people who love them.

Every one of these lives today as a spreadsheet tab or a mental note against one bank balance. Wallet gives it a real home — and if you like rows, every wallet is one underneath.

### Scenarios

- A deposit per student
- Commissions, kept apart
- A refund reserve
- One wallet per branch
- Per intake, per term
- Money you owe a partner

## Your bank balance is a liar.

It tells you how much money there is, and it implies it's all yours — and both halves are wrong. You saw it upstairs: one balance, six reasons, none of them visible until each gets a name. Most of the stress in running an agency isn't about how much money there is. It's about not knowing which of it is really yours.

- **A deposit with a student's name on it is harder to spend by accident:** Behavioural economists call it mental accounting; anyone who has paid rent from the wrong pile calls it Tuesday. The money doesn't change when you name it — but what you're willing to do with it does. Labels make the right thing the easy thing.
- **Your bank makes you apply for a second account:** Forms, a wait, sometimes a fee — just to keep two piles of money apart. Here a new wallet is a name and a button, open in seconds, as many as you have reasons. The easiest feature turns out to be the one people use most.
- **The easiest way to trust a place with your money is watching how it lets you go:** Every wallet can be emptied to any bank account you choose, whenever you choose — no questions, no exit interview. We'd rather you leave freely than stay because leaving is awkward.
- **Watertight compartments don't just survive leaks. They stop sailors making them:** A wrong transfer, a compromised card, a refund that shouldn't have gone out — it stays inside one wallet instead of draining the pool. And people are simply more careful with money that has a name and a wall around it. The safety is structural, and a little bit psychological.
- **A treasury department. For businesses of all sizes:** Big companies have always kept a wallet per purpose — money that answers to a name, inside a regulated bank. Already verified with NexPay? Then you did the paperwork once: it covers every wallet you'll ever open, so the next one is instant — no new documents, no new approval, just a name. It took us two years and a small fortune to be allowed to hold your money; some of our competitors spent that time on their logo. Everything above is an assertion. This one has a number on a public register: AFSL 560782. Check it — we checked theirs.

## Questions people ask about NexPay Wallet

#### What is NexPay Wallet?

A balance you hold with NexPay that you can split into as many named wallets as you like. Add money from any bank account, move it between wallets, pay schools and partners from it, or withdraw to any bank account. It's opening to a small group of agencies and schools first.

#### Is a wallet an escrow account?

It works the way most people use the word: money set aside for a purpose and kept apart until you release it. It is not a formal escrow arrangement with a third-party agent and release conditions written into a contract. You stay in control of every wallet and decide when the money moves.

#### Where is the money held?

In segregated trust accounts, separate from NexPay's own operating money. NexPay holds an Australian Financial Services Licence authorising non-cash payment services to retail and wholesale clients, and is registered with AUSTRAC as a remittance provider. Both are verifiable on their public registers.

#### Can I withdraw to any bank account?

Yes. Withdraw from any wallet to a bank account verified on your NexPay account, whenever you like. No notice period, no lock-up.

#### How many wallets can I open?

As many as you have reasons. We're not planning a cap.

#### Does Wallet cost anything?

We're shaping the pricing with the early-access group rather than guessing at it alone. What won't change: when money leaves NexPay as a payment or is converted to another currency, normal NexPay fees apply. Those move with the market, so we don't print a number; think the cost of a few coffees on a typical tuition payment, not a line you'd notice.

Learn more: [How pricing works](/pricing.md)

#### Which currencies can a wallet hold?

Wallet launches on the currencies NexPay already moves tuition in. When you ask for early access, tell us which currencies you hold most; it helps us decide the launch order.

#### Will commissions land in a wallet automatically?

That's the plan: commissions settle into a wallet of your choosing instead of waiting for a payout request. Early-access members will see this first, and today's commission dashboard and payouts keep working as they do now.

Learn more: [Understanding commissions](/training/commissions-and-settlements/understanding-commissions.md)

#### Does Wallet work with the API and the MCP server?

Wallets will be available through the REST API and the NexPay MCP server, so your systems, or an assistant like Claude, can read what's in each wallet and draft a move for a human to approve.

Learn more: [NexPay API & integrations](/api.md)

#### How do I get early access?

Tell us about your agency or school and how you'd use Wallet. We're opening it to a small group first so we can build the details with them, the same way we build API integrations with customers.
