# A tour of your NexPay dashboard - NexPay

## At a glance

- **Intended for:** New users — all roles
- **Reading time:** 5 minutes
- **Last updated:** 1st June 2026

**TL;DR:** The home screen is your starting point — three buttons to start a payment, a live currency calculator, and a summary of your recent payments. The top menu holds Payments, Students, and Recipients, with Payers, Employees, Settlements, Commissions, and Reports under "Others". Your name in the top corner opens Profile, Settings, and Payment Status. What you see depends on your role, so don't worry if some items are missing.

## Welcome — here's the lay of the land

International payments can feel like a lot, especially on day one. The good news is that NexPay is built around a handful of simple ideas, and once you know where things live, the whole dashboard gets a lot less intimidating. This tour walks you through the home screen and the main menu so you know where to go for whatever you need.

A quick note before we start: NexPay shows different things to different people. An agent sees commissions; a school sees settlements; a parent paying their child's fees sees a simpler view focused on the payment itself. So if a menu item mentioned here isn't on your screen, that's normal — it just means it isn't part of your role.

> **For agents and schools:** You'll likely use the full menu — payments, recipients, commissions, and your team. This tour covers all of it, so skim the parts that apply to you.

> **For students and families:** Your view is intentionally simpler. Focus on the home screen and the Payments page — that's almost everything you'll need.

## The home screen

When you log in, you land on the home screen. It's designed to answer one question: *what do you want to do right now?* Three things sit front and centre.

**The "What would you like to do?" card.** This is your launchpad for starting a payment. It has up to three buttons, depending on your role:

- **Collect or create a student payment** — for a payment from a student or family
- **Pay from my company** — for paying a supplier, issuing a refund, or running payroll
- **Receive from a partner** — for requesting a payment from a school or partner

Click any of these and you go straight into the payment wizard, already pointed at the right kind of payment.

**The currency calculator.** Below that, you can check live exchange rates any time without starting a payment. Enter an amount, choose the currencies, and you'll see what the payment would cost and roughly how long it takes to arrive. It's handy when a family asks "how much do I need to send?"

**Your payment summary.** Further down, four cards group your recent payments by where they are: **Created**, **Processing**, **On Hold**, and **Paid**. Click any card to expand it and see the individual payments. This is the quickest way to spot anything that needs your attention — particularly anything sitting in **On Hold**.

> **Quick tip:** If a payment lands in **On Hold**, check your email first. A hold usually means we need one more thing from you — a document or a detail to confirm — and the fastest way to clear it is to respond to the message from your NexPay contact.

If you earn commissions, you'll also see a commission summary on the home screen with a shortcut to request a payout. And there's a support card with your account manager's details (or the support team's), plus links to video tutorials and live training.

## The main menu

Across the top of every page is the main menu. The first few items are the ones most people use daily:

- **Payments** — every payment you've created, where you go to start new ones, and where you track their progress
- **Students** — the student records you've added (staff accounts only)
- **Recipients** — the people and institutions who receive funds, with their verified bank details

Then there's an **Others** dropdown that gathers the rest:

- **Payers** — the people and companies who send the money
- **Employees** — your team members, for payroll and access
- **Settlements** — money that has settled to your organisation (for schools and agents)
- **Commissions** — what you've earned and how to get paid out
- **Reports** — exports and summaries of your activity

Don't be thrown if **Others** is short or some items are missing — again, you only see what your role includes.

> **Worth knowing:** "Recipients" is the word NexPay now uses for what some platforms call "payees" or "beneficiaries." If you used the old portal, it's the same idea — the institution or person getting paid — just renamed for clarity.

## Your account menu

In the top corner you'll find your name or initials. Clicking it opens your personal menu:

- **Profile** — your name, password, and personal details
- **Settings** — your organisation's details, your team, and API keys (what's available depends on your role)
- **Payment Status** — a live page showing any disruptions or notices that might affect payment routes
- **Sign Out**

The **Payment Status** page is one to remember. If a payment is taking longer than usual, this is where you can check whether there's a known delay on a particular route before you reach out to support.

## Getting help

Two things are always within reach. The support card on the home screen shows how to contact your account manager or the support team, along with links to learn more. And on most screens there's a chat option in the corner if you have a quick question.

If you ever feel stuck, that's what the team is for — a real person who knows your account, not a queue. Reaching out is always a reasonable next step.

## Your next step

Where you go from here depends on who you are:

- **Brand new and need to set things up?** Start with [your first login](/training/getting-started/setting-up-your-account.md) to get your account and organisation ready.
- **Wondering why your view differs from a colleague's?** Read [roles and what you can see](/training/getting-started/roles-and-what-you-can-see.md).
- **Ready to send money?** Jump to [creating a payment](/training/payments/creating-a-payment.md) and walk through the wizard.
- **Just need to check a rate?** Use the currency calculator on your home screen, or read [exchange rates and quotes](/training/quotes-and-methods/exchange-rates-and-quotes.md).

## Checkpoint

After reading this, you should be able to:

- Find the three payment buttons on the home screen and know which one fits your situation
- Locate Payments, Recipients, and the **Others** dropdown in the main menu
- Open your Profile, Settings, and Payment Status from your account menu
- Read your payment summary cards and know to check **On Hold** first
- Understand that your menu reflects your role, so a missing item usually isn't a problem

## Frequently asked questions

### I just logged in for the first time. What should I do?

Start on the home screen. The "What would you like to do?" card has three buttons — pick the one that matches your situation (collecting a student payment, paying from your company, or receiving from a partner). If you're not ready to make a payment yet, scroll down to see the currency calculator and your payment summary. Everything else can wait until you need it.

### Why can't I see Commissions (or Students, or Settlements)?

The menu only shows what your role and your organisation have access to. Commissions appear for agents and schools who earn them; Students, Payers, and Employees are for staff accounts, not for families paying their own fees. If you think something should be there and isn't, ask your organisation's admin or reach the support team.

### Where do I start a payment?

There are two ways. On the home screen, use one of the three buttons on the "What would you like to do?" card. Or, from anywhere, open the Payments page from the top menu and click "Create a Payment" in the top corner. Both take you to the same step-by-step wizard.

### Where do I find a payment I created earlier?

Open Payments from the top menu. The page opens on "All payments" and you can switch tabs to narrow it down — Tuition & other fees, Refunds, Payroll, and so on. Use the filters at the top to search by date or status.

### Is there a mobile app?

NexPay runs in your web browser on a laptop, desktop, tablet, or phone. There's no separate app to download. For creating payments, a laptop or desktop gives you the most room to work, but you can check on payments from any device.

### I'm used to the old portal. Where did it go?

You're in the new NexPay dashboard. If you need the old portal for something, look for the "Looking for the old portal?" link at the top of the home screen — it'll take you back for a while. Everything you did in the old portal can be done here, sometimes under a new name (for example, "payees" are now "recipients").
